2023

Good resolutions for the new year – In 2023 it will definitely work out.

Resolution 1 – Live healthier and strengthen the immune system

We all know it – you go to work early in the morning and you come home late in the evening, the kids have to be helped with homework, and you’re also supposed to walk the dog and then cook something healthy? Daily life can be demanding and you feel stressed. That’s when people like to pick up the phone or order food right away via an app – the main point is that it’s quick. This lifestyle and poor nutrition attack our immune system.

In Ayurveda, the health of the intestine is given an important role and Ayurveda sees a close connection between the immune system and the intestine. 70-80% of all cells that produce antibodies are located in the mucous membrane of the intestine. Consequently, an intact intestine is a prerequisite for a strong immune system. In European naturopathy, it is known that many respiratory diseases, such as asthma, are associated with a poorly functioning intestine.

What specifically can we do to support the health of our gut and thus our defenses?

  • Prefer natural, wholesome and alkaline foods, white flour and sugar have only found their way in with industrialization. All refined foods as well as finished products contain insufficient vital substances and are not sufficient to maintain health.
  • Drink between 2-3 liters of warm boiled water daily, this helps cleanse the body channels and activates intestinal peristalsis.
  • Look at regular, daily digestion. Those who suffer from constipation can soak a tablespoon of flax seeds in water in the evening and consume them first thing the following morning. Then drink 2-3 cups of ginger water.
  • Avoid stress and anxiety, these weaken our immune system.
  • Allow yourself enough exercise and spend a lot of time in the forest or in the garden. Vitamin D, which is often called the sun vitamin, is formed to 90% in the body by sunlight and is responsible for important processes of the immune system.
  • Enjoy fresh garden herbs and spices that strengthen digestive power and make food easier to digest.
  • Make sure you get enough rest and sleep, these also help to strengthen our immune system.

In an increasingly hectic world, we need places that give us back strength, mindfulness, and calm. This is the only way to sustainably maintain our health. Ayurveda by Giardino aims to achieve this with modern cures and treatments in St. Moritz and Ascona.

Resolution 3 – Get fitter

On Christmas and New Year’s Day, you like to let yourself go when you have the whole family over or are invited to various celebrations. Before you know it, you suddenly can’t fit into your favorite pair of pants. This is one reason why many fitness centers suddenly boom, especially after the holidays. But exercise isn’t just important for getting rid of those pesky calories.

In Ayurveda, health and exercise are a unit. Regular exercise leads to good muscles, strength, and posture. Body fat is reduced, the digestive power/digestive fire (Agni) and the entire metabolism are improved, the immune system is strengthened, the aging process is delayed and the radiance is improved. Diet and behavior in everyday life also have an impact on fitness.

6 tips from Ayurveda for an optimal workout:

  • The best time of day for exercise is in the morning between 6 and 10 a.m.
  • Warm up briefly before exercising to avoid injury, e.g. circle the joints
  • A daily gentle increase in performance is better than full speed once a week, which wears out
  • Better 15-30 minutes a day than two hours once a week
  • A balance of endurance – strength – stretching should be considered in training
  • Always keep a regeneration phase of 5-10 minutes
Sport

Sports – health and exercise are one.

Resolution 3 – More time for ourselves

Now we come to one of the most important resolutions that many people neglect. Yourself. Stop for a moment and focus absolutely on yourself. This is where yoga can help you regain your inner balance, and in doing so, it also strengthens the immune system without any side effects. Stress and other negative emotions weaken the immune system. On the other hand, if the nervous system is balanced, this has a positive effect on our state of health. The soul, nerve system, and immune system interact with each other.
